Francis, 37, made his professional boxing debut only at the end of October, but managed to impress in a fight against Fury
Former champion UFC Francis Ngannou included in the list of leading boxers in the heavyweight division according to World Boxing Council (WBC). In the status rating, the newcomer to the boxing ring received tenth place.
The case is unprecedented, considering that the 37-year-old athlete had only one fight in professional boxing – that same fight on the night of October 29 in Riyadh, in which he lost to WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury by split decision. Let us remember that in the third round Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
Many celebrities in the boxing world (Derek Chisora, Deontay Wilder, promoter Eddie Hearn) believe that it was Ngannou who deserved to win this fight.
Given the French-Cameroonian debutant’s “outstanding job” against the illustrious British champion, the WBC Board of Governors decided to place Ngannou at number 10 in the division.
In recent weeks, there have been active discussions about options for continuing Ngannou’s boxing career – for example, his theoretical fight against Wilder or Anthony Joshua.
