In the two opening matches, Petkov’s team did not win a single set
Prometheus suffered a second defeat in a row at the start of the group stage Women’s Volleyball Champions League. In the second round, the Ukrainian team lost to the Polish LKS Lodz – 0:3.
The match, which was considered home for Ivan Petkov’s team, was hosted by the Romanian city of Mioveni.
Prometheus fought on equal terms in the first set, but the end went to the Polish champions – 25:20. The guests won the second game more confidently – 25:17. The third set followed the most dramatic scenario, where both teams took the lead, and at the end the score became 23:23. But even in this case, the Polish club had the final say.
A second defeat and Petkov’s team remains in last place in Group E with zero points. In the next round on November 29, Prometheus will face off against the Romanian Alba Blaj.
The group winner will directly advance to the quarter finals of the Champions League. The second teams of all five groups, as well as the best among the third places, will compete for three more tickets to the quarterfinals. Four more teams that took third place will continue to compete in the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup.
