In September, Jean won an Olympic license for the 2024 Games
Olympic champion Tokyo 2020 Zhan Belenyuk will not perform at Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestling championship, which will take place in Poltava. This was announced by the head coach of the men’s team Vladimir Shatskikh.
“Zhan Belenyuk has fulfilled all the selection criteria for the Olympic Games in Paris, and therefore he will miss the Ukrainian Championship in Poltava. Jean won the last Ukrainian championship, the Ukrainian Cup and received an Olympic license. All other leading wrestlers will compete at the Ukrainian Championship in Poltava,” Shatskikh said.
In September, Belenyuk won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships in Belgrade and thanks to this received an Olympic license. Jean stated that the 2024 Olympics in Paris will be the final one in his professional career.
The Ukrainian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship will be held in Poltava on November 17-19. The national championship will be a selection for licensed tournaments for the Olympics, as well as for the European Championship, which will be held in Bucharest in February next year.
