Senior coach of the Russian cross-country ski team Yuri Borodavko suggested in a conversation with a correspondent that the three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov will take part in the 15 km freestyle race at the first stage of the National Cup in Vershina Teya (Republic of Khakassia).
The first stage of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup will take place at Sommet de Théa from November 23 to 26.
— Bolshunov always trains with restrictions, does not do certain exercises. First of all, these are short accelerations, fast work… Where fast sprinting movements are needed. We will pre-register for the Khakassia stage, but the decision will be made by Alexander himself, depending on his condition.
So far, everything is going pretty well. I think (Bolshunov) will be able to participate in the speed skating race. But the decision will be made just before departure. It will all depend on how well the body will allow you to start. If there are prerequisites that create discomfort, then it will not start, of course,” Borodavko told .
Bolshunov, 26, is a three-time Olympic champion, world skiathlon champion, two-time World Cup winner, two-time winner of the Tour de Ski multi-day ski race.
