Zagitova, 21, has not competed since December 2019.
— We were able to see you perform magnificently during the opening ceremony of the stages of the Russian Grand Prix. Taking into account the fact that interest in women’s single skating has noticeably decreased and there are fewer girls performing quadruple jumps, do you have a desire to return and participate in competitions?
– Yes, of course, such a desire is always present. I miss the competitive atmosphere. However, in addition to sport, I have many social and media projects. As you know, to consistently compete at the professional level, you have to make certain sacrifices. You must work like a racehorse, giving it your full attention and not paying attention to the outside world. Its pretty hard.
— So, you have finally closed the page on professional skating?
“My mood changes so quickly that I can’t say what I want tomorrow,” Zagitova noted in an interview with RT.
