The outsider won the first period and ended up falling just short of overtime
Kyiv Capitals in the capital’s derby won an unexpectedly difficult victory over Trident in a regular season match Ukrainian hockey championship – 4:2.
Trizub, who lost to this opponent twice in October with a total score of 1:18, this time managed to win the first period. Then the favorite seemed to have taken its toll, but at the beginning of the third segment the underdog equalized the score.
Trizub suffered nothing at all until overtime. The winning goal two minutes before the end was scored by Nikolai Dvornik, who successfully played the finishing touch.
The victory allowed the Capitals to return to second place in the Favbet league table, ahead of Kherson Dnepr in terms of additional indicators.
Trizub suffered its eighth defeat in ten meetings and is confidently in second-to-last place without much chance of the playoffs.
On November 19, Kyiv Capitals will fight for second place with Dnepr, and Trizub will fight with Kremenchug.
