French figure skater Kevin Aymoz called the Russian free program incredible Kamila Valieva at the Beijing Olympic Games, which she performed to Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero”.
Aymoz took third place during the fifth stage of the international Grand Prix series; in the free program he also performs under “Bolero”.
— My coach suggested I skate to “Bolero” several years in a row, but I was afraid because too many wonderful skaters were performing to this music. You remember the Torvill – Dean dancers, and in 2012 Carolina Costner won the world championship with her bolero. And I was there and I saw it with my own eyes, it was incredible. I still remember every movement.
This will probably seem unexpected to some now, but Kamila Valieva also had a wonderful, simply amazing Olympic program for the “Bolero,” Sports.ru quoted Aimo as saying.
Valieva took fourth place in the individual tournament at the Olympics.
