Petrakova’s Armenia did not qualify for Euro 2024

Croatia’s victory ruined Armenia’s chances of fighting for second place

Team Armenia won’t play in final part of Euro 2024.

The team, led by Ukrainian coach Alexander Petrakov, drew with Wales today (1:1). However, Armenia remained “overboard” from the 2024 EURO thanks to Croatia’s victory over Latvia (2:0).

Thus, group leader Turkey (16 points) will leave Group D for the European Championship. Croatia (13) and Wales (11) are vying for the second spot. Armenia with 8 points can only finish in third place.

On November 21, in the final round, Armenia will compete with Croatia, and Wales will host Turkey. For Latvia, the qualification for the 2024 European Championship is completed: the Latvians scored their only points on October 12, beating Armenia at home.

Alexander Petrakov will lead the Armenian national team at the beginning of 2023. Before this, Petrakov led the Ukrainian national team. At the head of the blue-yellows, the coach played 15 games, six of which ended in victories and two in defeats. Ukraine ended in a draw in seven more matches.

Petrakov’s contract ended on December 31, 2022, and the UAF decided not to continue cooperation. Under his leadership, Ukraine took second place in Group 1 of the Nations League and remained in Division B, and also did not make it to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In June 2019, Petrakov led the Ukraine U-20 team to a historic victory at the World Championships in Poland. For his work, the coach received an honorary title from the President of Ukraine.
