Double Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov admitted to that he had no plans to work as a coach after finishing his sporting career.
Rylov will take part in the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships, which begin in St. Petersburg on November 20.
– Work as a coach? I certainly don’t want to drive anyone to the Olympics. It’s too much stress. But just training kids doesn’t interest me.
— So you realize that Andrei Gennadievich Shishin was more worried than you before Tokyo?
– And I always say that. A person swims in the final, you put everything into him, and in the end, at this most important moment, when everything is decided, you remain helpless. This is the most intense stress: you can no longer do anything.
— Don’t have enough patience for coaching?
– Certainly not. And I will not be able to demand as much as Andrei Gennadievich asked. Here you have to exert psychological pressure at some point, but I don’t feel it. I’m pretty gentle about it. Saying something harsh to someone once, putting them in their place is one thing. But constantly pushing for a common goal is not for me. And elite sport is constant pressure,” Rylov, 27, told .
The swimmer won the 2020 Games in Tokyo, he also won silver and bronze medals at the Olympics and is a two-time world champion.
Live broadcast of the evening sessions of the Russian Swimming Championship will take place on the channels of the Match holding company.
