Zaire-Emery suffered a sprain in the match against Gibraltar

The midfielder became the youngest debutant and goalscorer in the history of the French national team

Midfielder French national team Warren Zaire-Emery suffered a sprain in the match with Gibraltar (14:0) in the qualification for Euro 2024. Le Bleu head coach Didier Deschamps spoke about this.

“Tonight was great, apart from the injury to Warren Zaire-Emery. It’s not too serious. According to the information I have, the surveys are encouraging. There is no fracture, but a severe sprain after a very rough foul,” Deschamps said.

Zaire-Emery became the youngest player in French history, making his senior debut at the age of 17 years and 255 days. In addition, Warren scored a goal in the 16th minute of the match. Thus, Zaire-Emery set a record, becoming the youngest goal scorer in the history of the national team.

France secured early access to the 2024 European Championship. Deschamps’ team, having scored 14 goals against Gibraltar, set an absolute record in the history of qualifying for the European Championships. Les Blais will play Greece in their final qualifying match on November 21.
