The former heavyweight world champion noted that boxing is developing more slowly than it should
Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder stated that he intends to move to UFC and combine performances in boxing and mixed martial arts.
“My thing is I’m trying to get into the UFC family. I want to combine boxing and MMA at the same time. I’m serious about this. Because boxing is not growing as fast as it should be, or fighters are afraid that they will remain without fighting for a long time.”
“You have a fight in the UFC and I know you don’t have to worry about records, managers, promotions or anything else. The best will fight the best. This is where I want to be. I have a few years left to do this. I want to give it my all before my time is up. To be a heavyweight champion in both disciplines, UFC and boxing.”
Previously, Wilder said that he should be the headliner of a future boxing evening with the participation of Anthony Joshua. The American believes that the public will be interested in the knockout, and called himself the best in the world in this component.
Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua will hold a joint boxing evening on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Deontay will fight Joseph Parker, and AJ will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin. The event is expected to bring closer the conclusion of a contract for the fight between the two former champions.
