The fight between Joshua and Wilder could take place in the spring of 2024 in Saudi Arabia

To do this, Anthony and Deontay must win the boxing evening on December 23

Promoter Eddie Hearn stated that the former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and ex-world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will be able to hold a head-to-head fight in Saudi Arabia.

Preliminarily, the fight can take place in the spring of 2024. However, for the deal to be successfully completed, victories for Wilder and Joshua in the upcoming fights scheduled for December 23 are necessary.

“Saudi Arabia has made it clear that they are interested in this show. They want AJ to fight Wilder. The whole world wants this. I believe we will achieve this, but they both have to win on December 23rd.”

In August, the WBC Board of Governors rescinded its order for a mandatory title eliminator between Wilder and Andy Ruiz.

Wilder and Joshua have been in talks for a long time about a fight in December. The British promoter Eddie Hearn announced problems with the place and date of the fight, after which he suggested that the event could be held no earlier than March-April 2024.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Deontay’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.

On December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Deontay will fight Joseph Parker, and AJ will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin. The card will also feature other notable fights. Actors include Filip Hrgovic, Jai Opetaya, Daniel Dubois and Dmitry Bivol.
