World Championship medalist Elena Radionova believes that Petr Gumennik could be among the top three winners of one of the stages of the World Grand Prix series if Russian figure skaters were allowed to compete.
On Sunday, Gumennik won the Russian Grand Prix in Samara, scoring a total of 300.66 points on two skates. The result is a record for national competitions and the third in the world this season. Only Adam Xiao Him Fa (France, 306.78) and Ilya Malinin (United States, 310.47) had higher marks this season.
— Gumennik is one of the leaders. I think the main fight of the Russian Championship will take place between him and Semenenko, I singled him out last year. There is always room to grow, we can always do better. I think Petya is not going to stop there. If he had competed internationally, he could have easily been in the top three at the World Grand Prix,” Radionova told .
The next stage of the Russian Grand Prix will be held in Moscow from November 24 to 26.
