Klimas: Undisputed title in two weight categories has always been Usik’s goal

The manager also explained why he considers Alexander a doubly inconvenient opponent for Fury

Egis Klimasmanager of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usikaspoke about the motivation of his ward for the fight against the WBC champion Tyson Furyas well as why Alexander is an inconvenient opponent for the Briton.

“Absolute championship in two weight categories? Of course, that was always the goal. No one believed he could become undisputed at heavyweight, no one believed he could move up to heavyweight at all. Look at what he’s doing, look at what he’s bringing and how things are changing right now.”

“Yeah, he’s not very good against lefties. He’s not very good with smaller guys. Usik has both! He’s smaller than Fury and left-handed, so we’ll see.”

The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the event was planned to be organized on December 23. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.

Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
