Borodin on the Russian 200m medley record: he wanted to swim even faster

European swimming champion Ilya Borodin told that at a distance of 200 m individual medley at the Russian Short Course Championship, he was determined to show an even faster result.

Borodin won the Russian championship title in St. Petersburg with a score of 1:53.09, setting a national record. Previously, the Russian record belonged to Daniil Pasynkov (1.53.26).

— Everything was very sober in the commentary before departure, I did not reveal any secrets according to the plan concerning the seconds. For what?

— I’m just not a fan of vows and, in principle, I don’t like talking too much before departure. To be honest, I wanted to “take off” more from the Russian record.

– It’s not for me to judge. On the contrary, those who watched from the outside know how interesting it was.

— The curls have grown. Do they interfere with aerodynamics?

“I think if they didn’t have hats they might be in the way, but now that’s not the case.”
