Efimova – about the Chechen Republic in St. Petersburg: “Very fun. I didn’t even think there would be such emotion.

Triple Olympic medalist Yulia Efimova after swimming the 50m breaststroke at the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg, she said she needed to compete more to reach the same level.

Efimova clocked 29.86 seconds in her semifinal to advance to the final. Efimova, 31, returned to competition at the end of October. This is his first Russian championship in two years.

— How did you like the performance?

— I was a little tricky at the finish, but I performed pretty well at the moment. I’m incredibly happy to be back, there’s a good atmosphere here. And he has already begun to show something close to his seconds, which cannot but rejoice.

— How did you approach this Russian championship?

— I always try to be in shape during competitions. But it’s too early to tell. I’m already starting to pick up speed. I only had one start: selection for the Russian Championship in Astrakhan. Very little, nothing is clear. Every time you show up at the starting line, everything feels painfully familiar. But everything is somehow unusual. We need to pick up speed, be competitive and compete to reach our previous level. At the same time, I think it’s already good. I’m happy with today’s result.

— You are back after a two-year career break. What are the emotions like?

– Very funny. I didn’t even think there would be such emotion. But everything is very interesting. And the public attention is nice. But it remains very difficult,” reports the correspondent, according to Efimova’s words.

The Russian Swimming Championships take place from November 20 to 25. Watch live broadcasts of the Czech Republic’s final races on right now.
