The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified the Russian skier Maria Gushchina for 12 months, reports the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Committee (RUSADA).
The 34-year-old athlete’s suspension period begins on October 27, 2023.
Thus, the CAS partially annulled the previous decision of the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission of RUSADA dated June 23, 2022 on a sanction in the form of a warning to Gushchina for the violation provided for in Article 2.2 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules ( the use or attempted use by an athlete of a prohibited substance or a prohibited method).
Gushchina, as part of the Russian women’s team, won a bronze medal in the relay at the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
