UEFA recognized the current Karpaty as the legal successor of the old club with the same name – Vatsko

Along with their status, Lviv residents also inherited the debts of the old Carpathians in the amount of 8 million dollars or euros

UEFA recognized modern Lviv Carpathiansperforming in First League of Ukrainesuccessor to the old Karpat (1963 – 2021)reports journalist Viktor Vatsko.

This first of all means that the Lviv club, founded in 2020, “inherited” impressive debts from its predecessor. Their amount, according to unconfirmed estimates, may be about 8 million euros or dollars.

Karpaty reportedly filed an appeal against this decision. But it has little chance of success, because for UEFA a fairly weighty argument is the presence of a number of formal signs of legal inheritance – club colors, stadium and, most importantly, the original emblem with the year of foundation 1963.

New Carpathians have been performing under the traditional logo since July 2021 – the logo was given to the club that then entered the Second League, given by fans.

This season, Karpaty won Group A of the First League ahead of schedule, gaining 42 points in 17 matches. The team guaranteed itself participation in the championship round in the spring. In the next match, Myron Markevich’s team will host Ternopil Niva on November 24.
