Rebrov is in the top 10 in terms of the number of matches at the head of the Ukrainian national team

The match against Italy was Sergei’s eighth as head coach of the national team

Sergey Rebrov played his eighth match as head coach Ukrainian national team. This figure is the tenth in history.

According to “additional indicators,” the 49-year-old specialist surpassed Yuri Kalitvintsev, who also had eight fights (2010 – 2011), but a significantly worse percentage of points scored – 33.3% versus 62.5%.

Let us remind you that Rebrov officially headed the national team on June 7, 2023. Under his leadership, the team won four victories, drew three times and lost once.

The next reference point for the current mentor is Oleg Bazilevich, under whose leadership Ukraine played 11 matches in 1993-1994. Sergei can reach this level as early as next summer if he leads his team to the European Championship. If Ukraine can go far enough at the continental championship, then Alexander Petrakov’s record of 15 fights will not stand either.

The record holder for the number of matches at the helm of the Ukrainian national team – 64 – remains Oleg Blokhin. In second place is Andrey Shevchenko (52).
