Athletistic/Others. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, stressed that athletes should not be held responsible for the actions of their governments and national Olympic committees .

In October, the IOC Executive Committee temporarily suspended the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). At the same time, it was stated that the IOC reserves the right to decide on the admission of individual Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the 2026 Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’ Ampezzo in neutral status.

Bach emphasized that one aspect of non-discrimination is that athletes cannot be held responsible for the actions of their governments or their national Olympic committees. All athletes who qualify and follow the rules of the Olympic Movement must be able to compete at the international level. Bach confirmed respect for the principle of non-discrimination, even in the context of violation of the Olympic Charter by the Republic of China.
