Triple Olympic medalist Yulia Efimova evaluated his performance in the final heat of the 50 meter breaststroke at the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships in St. Petersburg.
Efimova finished third with a score of 29.95 seconds, gold was won by Evgenia Chikunova (29.54). Efimova, 31, is participating in the Russian Championship for the first time in two years and returned to competitive training at the end of October.
— Why didn’t the start of swimming go well for you?
– Well, as usual. What can I do here? Even in good shape, I always lose the start a little, even if on the contrary I was focused on the start and the turn. “Fifty dollars” is a lottery in which I was unlucky today.
– How it works?
— It seems to me that, knowing my faults, I sometimes hold on at the start, but in fact I jump much better in training. Plus I’m also very afraid of making a false start, I already had such moments before the break.
— And when do you realize that the start-up was not a success?
– Already in the water, with peripheral vision you can see that everything is far ahead. There are about a hundred in front, I’ll try there if I don’t make it at 50 meters.
— You managed to immediately enter the top three of the Russian Championship after a long break. This means that everything was not in vain.
– Yes it’s very good. If there was an opportunity, I would start more before the Russian Championship to get in shape. But there is no such opportunity, there is no competition, I did not expect such results, ”Efimova said on .
The Russian Championship takes place from November 20 to 25 in Saint Petersburg. Watch live broadcasts of the final series at these minutes on the channel, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
