Ukraine U-21 achieved five victories in five matches
National team midfielder Ukraine U-21 Vladimir Brazhko commented on the minimal victory over Azerbaijan (1:0) in the qualification for youth Euro 2025. The midfielder’s goal from the penalty spot was the only one in the match and brought three points to the blue-yellows.
“Azerbaijan? Perhaps it’s just us because we didn’t convert many chances. Azerbaijan also played compactly in defense. But we scored one goal – we will work to score more and improve our defensive game. A lot of things worked out in the first half. In the second half, we lost concentration more often, and the opponent felt that they could go on the attack and somewhere created chances near our goal and caused us problems.”
“Penalty? The coach said that I would kick first because I had punched them before. But I’m more pleased that the team won than I scored. Last penalty, when did you score? Maybe also for Zarya against Ingulets.”
“I’m happy with the result for the first part of the selection, but there are problems, they need to be solved and our game improved. There is room to grow, we will work on it next year. We return with a victorious mood and go to first place. We need to come and solve problems at Dynamo.”
The blue-and-yellows hold the lead in Group F, three points ahead of England. Let us note that Unai Melgosa’s team achieved five victories in five rounds.
Ukraine U-21 will play the next match in the spring of 2024. On March 26, Melgosa’s team will compete with Azerbaijan on the road.
