Team Finland achieved an unexpected victory over Canada in the quarterfinals Davis Cup.
The event takes place in Malaga, Spain. Experienced Raonic beat Kaukovalta in straight sets, but then Finland scored two points thanks to Virtanen’s victory in singles and the triumph of the Helievaara/Virtanen tandem in the key doubles match.
At the semi-final stage, Finland will face the winner of the Czech Republic-Australia pair. It should be noted that for the Finnish team, reaching the semi-finals is the first time in the history of performances in the Davis Cup.
