Swedish runner Emilia Brangefelt, bronze medalist at the world trail championships, committed suicide at the age of 21, according to the Swedish Athletics Federation website.
Emilia is reported to have died on November 13. Previously, the athlete published a post on social networks in which she complained about her physical and moral state.
“In recent months, Emilia has been feeling very unwell, both physically and mentally. She had good support from those close to her, but on November 13 she committed suicide, the Swedish Athletics Federation said in a statement.
Brangefelt won bronze in the 40km trail event at the 2022 World Championships in Thailand.
