Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov told that he had had preparation problems which reduced his chances of achieving a record result in the 50 meter backstroke at the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships.
On Wednesday, Kolesnikov posted a result of 22.64 seconds in the semifinals over this distance. The final will take place on Thursday. The world record belongs to Kolesnikov – 22.11.
— You said that the preparation for this championship was unique. What exactly?
— There were some problems, there wasn’t enough preparation, which ultimately had an impact.
— So the 50m backstroke world record at this championship is not a very realistic goal?
– Well yes. We must take advantage of current opportunities. You can’t jump over your head. Let’s see how it goes, every day it happens differently,” Kolesnikov told .
