Arina Surkova with a national record, she won gold in the 100 meter butterfly at the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships in St. Petersburg.
The athlete representing the Novosibirsk region achieved a time of 55.63 seconds in the final swim. She updated her Russian record, which previously stood at 56.30 seconds. Daria Klepikova (57.28) from the Voronezh region won silver, Svetlana Chimrova (57.63) from St. Petersburg took bronze.
“I didn’t make it to the turn, so I didn’t expect there to be seconds like that.” When I turned around, I saw the result, I was surprised,” Surkova told after the swim.
The Russian Short Course Swimming Championship takes place from November 20 to 25 in Saint Petersburg.
