Double Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov told that he was mainly competing against himself and was always having difficulties.
Rylov won gold in the 200m backstroke at the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships in St. Petersburg. In the final, the 27-year-old athlete clocked 1 minute 50.20 seconds. Dmitry Savenko was second (1:51.78), Fedor Esin (1:52.32) third.
“The last day was quite hard, I obviously didn’t dive, I kept walking on the water. I have my own opponent, it’s me. It’s still a little difficult for me to swim with myself,” Rylov told .
The Russian Championship in St. Petersburg ended on November 25.
