“Alexander Bolshunov is still far from his super form” – Borodavko

Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov is still far from optimal physical shape, but his condition is already encouraging, the senior coach of the Russian national cross-country skiing team told . Yuri Borodavko .

Bolshunov won the 15 km individual race in the classic style at the stage of the Russian Cup in Vershina Tei (Republic of Khakassia). He covered the distance as the last number and was 6.3 seconds ahead of the two-time world champion among juniors, 19-year-old Savely Korostelev. The first three winners of the competition were Sergei Ardashev. For Bolshunov, 26, this is the third consecutive victory at the start of the Russian Cup season.

— The races went rather well. Bolshunov managed to win, but the advantage was very small: Savely Korostelev lost only six seconds to him. There was a struggle almost until the very end. Bolshunov’s form is encouraging, even if he is still quite far from being fully fit. At the same time he won skating, classics and sprint, well done, good condition,” Borodavko told .

The next stage of the Russian Cup will be held in Tyumen from December 1 to 3.
