German biathlete Roman Res won the 20 km individual race during the first stage of the World Cup held in Östersund (Sweden).
He covered the distance in 51 minutes 27.2 seconds, making one mistake.
Second place went to his compatriot Justus Strehlow (+12.1; one miss), third being Norwegian Johannes Boe (+25.0; 2 misses).
Victory in the women’s 15 km individual race was won by Italian Lisa Vitozzi, who covered the distance in 44 minutes 3.9 seconds with one penalty.
Germany’s Franziska Preuss (+0.1 seconds; no misses) finished second; the top three was completed by her compatriot Vanessa Voigt (+10.1 seconds; no misses).
Russian biathletes do not participate in competitions under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union due to the situation in Ukraine.
