Figure skater Sofia Tchaplygina explained to what jumping elements she focuses on in her programs and said that for now she is mainly competing with herself and her nerves.
At the Moscow stage of the Russian Grand Prix, Chaplygina took eighth place (183.41). Earlier, at the Grand Prix stage in Krasnoyarsk, the skater finished ninth (168.07).
— Which step was the most successful for you and why?
— The Grand Prix stage in Moscow was more successful. Despite the fact that I was very nervous, the rental turned out to be decent. We worked for a long time on the programs, on the stability of the jumps. Of course, there were small mistakes, but it is already much better than during the third stage in Krasnoyarsk. There, I found myself without a stunt, even though I was doing absolutely all the jumps. But here everything happened differently. Everything went well in Moscow.
— Are you going to try ultra-si elements? Do you have them in your jumping kit?
– No, I don’t do quadruple jumps. I favor cascades with a triple buckle and a sheepskin coat. During training, I cascade jump with three triple jumps.
— Do you think it is possible to fight with the skaters from Tutberidze’s headquarters? Can they compete?
— People like me, certainly not. I don’t feel like I’m putting Tutberidze’s seat in competition. I have some girls in mind that I’m competing with. In general, I only compete with myself, with my nerves and my emotions. Maybe if I work it will be possible to compete with such skaters [как у Тутберидзе]”, Chaplygina told .
