WBC President: Potential Joshua-Wilder fight could become final contender

The fight between two former world champions can be organized in the spring of 2024

President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman stated that two former world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder can have a head-to-head match for the status of an official contender.

According to Suleiman, the boxers are “moving towards each other”, and the situation will become clearer after a large-scale boxing evening on December 23, which will bring together more than half of the boxers from the TOP 10 in the heavyweight division in Riyadh.

“This is a natural WBC challenger tournament. We have the number one ranking in Wilder, Joshua, Parker and Otto Wallin. All of them occupy high places in the WBC rankings. After December 23, we will see a different picture in the ratings.”

“It seems that Wilder and Joshua are moving on a collision course. Their fight could become the final eliminator on the WBC line.”

The Joshua-Wallin fight will take place on December 23 in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The same evening will feature fights between Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker, Daniel Dubois and Jarrell Miller, as well as Filip Hrgovic, Daniel Dubois, Jarrell Miller and other famous boxers.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Wallin has won six straight victories since his only career loss to Fury, defeating Murat Gassiev in his last fight.
