Ukrainian swimmer resumed the season three times due to injuries
Ukrainian swimmer Mikhail Romanchuk He said that he thought to end his career this season. However, injuries did not prevent him from successfully performing at the World Aquatics Championships.
“I am more satisfied [результатом на ЧС]because it’s been a very difficult year. Since September 2021, it has not been going as it should. First, one disease, health problems. After the New Year, I fell ill for the second time with a temperature of under 39, and then the war began in February, ”said the swimmer.
“I also paused training. The season had to be restarted three times. At some moments there were even thoughts – to quit swimming. Because it didn’t work out,” Romanchuk said.
“I will say that the World Championships turned out very well for an athlete who was thinking about ending his career,” Mikhail added.
Earlier, Romanchuk became the first Ukrainian to win a medal at the World Open Water Championships. Mikhail won bronze in the 5 km. Prior to that, at the same World Championships in Budapest, he won bronze in the 800-meter freestyle.
