Belarusian swimmer Shimanovich: “European swimming does not yet allow participation in the European Championships”

Belarusian world record holder in short course swimming Ilya Shimanovich told that Belarusian swimmers cannot yet participate in the European Championships, because the European Aquatics still does not allow them to start.

Shimanovich participated in the World Cup in neutral status, received from World Aquatics. Last week he started the Russian Championship in St. Petersburg. The European Short Course Championships will take place in December in Romania.

— You have already participated in the World Cup, if I understand correctly, you are going to participate in the World Championships, but what about the European Championships?

— The European Federation does not allow us yet, as long as there is no admission, we will prepare for the World Championships, which will take place in Doha.

— What do you think of the “hundred” of the championship in St. Petersburg?

— I’m just starting to gain momentum from start to finish, I need to get up to competitive speed. There were not enough departures or complete training. I’m going to get in shape. I will also swim in the Salnikov Cup.

— Did you feel the necessary emotions from the World Cup?

“I was as happy as a child, I felt like I was on an international start for the first time and had only seen all these people on TV before.

— Is short water always better than long water?

— The season was not easy, there was an operation, we had to recover completely, and now we have to concentrate on the big waters. The World Cup will be in February, and then we will see,” Shimanovich told .
