The new option was activated after the midfielder played 100 matches of at least 45 minutes for the Blaugrana
Midfielder Barcelona Pedrihaving played a full match against Porto in the Champions League (2:1) on November 28, activated a bonus of 5 million euros for his former club Las Palmas.
The footballer, who turned 21 on November 25, has currently played 100 matches for Barcelona lasting at least 45 minutes each. This was a prerequisite for the player’s previous club to receive the next bonus tranche from Barcelona.
Pedri joined the Catalan club from Las Palmas in September 2019 at the age of just 17. The transfer amount, according to Transfermarkt, was about 17 million euros. The player was later loaned to the same club from the Canary Islands.
Reportedly, the total amount (including all bonuses specified in the agreement) that Las Palmas will earn for their pupil could be up to 25 million euros.
The former club will be able to receive the next bonus only if Barcelona decides to sell the player. According to preliminary information, Las Palmas is entitled to 15% of subsequent resale.
Pedri managed to play 37 matches for the first team of Las Palmas, in which he performed 11 effective actions. For Barcelona, he played a total of 116 matches, scored 17 goals, and gave 9 assists.
The Spaniard’s assist in the match against Porto helped the Blaugranas qualify early for the Champions League playoffs. In the Spanish Primera, Barça is in fourth place after 14 rounds. On December 3, Pedri’s team will host third-placed Atlético.
