World Championships medalist Yevtushenko: “Maybe I’ll try to break the hour record next year”

Medalist at the World Championships in individual racing Alexander Eutushenko told that he does not rule out an attempt to break the Russian hour record next year.

Pavel Alekseev, 53, set the Russian Masters hour record in his age category, after covering 47.675 km at the Krylatskoye Olympic Velodrome.

— I am now in freestyle swimming, coaching amateurs and training myself. So maybe I’ll try to break the record myself next year, in the fall. Pasha set the tone, I think now it will be like a flash mob, there will be a lot of people who want to try and there is already a bar to overcome. No one remembered this record for many years, no one thought about it, but now there is the first race, in the near future, I think, a few people will appear who want to break this record.

– Lovers?

– I think they are athletes.

– What is all this for? Just for fun?

– Of course, just for fun.

– But maybe we should establish some kind of prize money, find a sponsor.

– That would be great. But it’s for the federation. For now, just for fun,” Yevtushenko told .

In previous Olympic cycles, Yevtushenko was one of Russia’s best time trialists. He has now put his professional sporting career on hold.
