Alena Leonova, silver medalist at the World Figure Skating Championships, believes that fans are happy to attend major competitions in Russia and not travel to other countries for skaters.
-Who feels bad about this? I think all Russian fans are happy to have the opportunity to watch such important competitions in their country. They can follow their athletes through their fan clubs. They don’t need to go to Japan or China for this. They can watch everything in Russia.
I always said that we should let foreigners suffer because it’s not so interesting without ours, that’s all,” Leonova was quoted as saying by “Championship”.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
