Leonova does not consider it a problem that Russian figure skaters began to jump fewer quads

Silver medalist at the 2012 World Championships, Russian figure skater Alena Leonova spoke about his thoughts on the singles competitions in the 2023/2024 season.

— What impressions did the girls’ competition make on you? Many say that due to the disappearance of ultra-si, there is less entertainment. Do you agree with this?

— But there is more skating, more aesthetics, more interesting programs. It seems to me that there are now as many quadruples as we need. At each stage, someone tried something, but there was no race of quadruples: who could do the most, and so on. Everyone skated according to their own strength, and those who could did what they could. The main thing is that we saw interesting performances and enjoyed the girls’ skating. There is always competition, there are struggles. It will be very interesting to see this at the Russian Championship. Even taking into account that it is not eight people, as usual, who will make quadruples, but only the first three,” Leonova said in “Championship”.
