Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova received a special award as the best national coach at the Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada in 1988.
Tarasova received the award as part of the annual gala evening of the Russian Union of Athletes, organized with the support of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
— I’ve never been to this event before, we’ll see. It’s very nice that we are still remembered and reunited. We are still working, we are trying, we can meet,” Tarasova was quoted as saying by the correspondent.
The event takes place at the International Sambo and Boxing Center. It is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Mexico and Grenoble, the 35th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Calgary and Seoul, the 25th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Nagano, the 15th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Beijing, the 5th anniversary of the Olympic Games Pyeongchang Olympics and the year since the Beijing Olympics.
The best athlete of the Calgary Games was Tamara Tikhonova (skiing), the best athlete was Vyacheslav Fetisov (hockey), the best women’s team was the relay four in cross-country skiing, the best men’s team was the national hockey team of the USSR.
