Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov spoke about adjusting to a new life and finding motivation.
On Saturday, December 2, an open dialogue “Iron Will and Technologies for Life” takes place with Kostomarov within the framework of the “Russia” forum in the “Made by Us” pavilion of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Federation from Russia to VDNKh. Since January this year, the skater has suffered several amputations after being hospitalized.
“I have to somehow adapt to my new life.” Every little thing in family life, in sport, is a victory. Today, seemingly basic things make me happy. Comb your hair, pick your ear. Life is priceless, since I’m still alive, we need it for something. I try to live and somehow live the same life as before: go in for sports, swim, play tennis. I try to keep myself in shape. It’s a good medicine that you can’t get rid of later.
This year has hit me hard. Around the corner, trouble crept up on me, something I didn’t expect could happen to me. Life turned out differently. I have someone to live for: my children, my parents, my wife. Without her, it would be difficult to get out of this hole. You need to value your family and friends,” reports Kostomarov’s words.
Kostomarov, together with Tatyana Navka, won the 2006 Turin Olympics in ice dancing, became a two-time world champion and a three-time European champion.
