“Russia is calm about the discriminatory decision of the ISU, it is a temporary phenomenon” – Matytsin

Russia is calm in the face of temporary phenomena such as the discriminatory decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) against Russian athletes; the country has enormous potential, said the Russian Minister of Sports. Oleg Matytsin .

Russian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track speed skaters have been suspended from participating in competitions under the auspices of the ISU due to the situation in Ukraine. December 3 is celebrated as World Skating Day; Matytsin takes part in the VDNKh events on this occasion.

— World Skating Day was established by the International Skating Union, an organization that is not the friendliest toward Russian athletes. In Russia we honor these holidays. What does that mean?

“I believe that the adoption of such unfounded discriminatory decisions by individuals is a temporary phenomenon. As an organization, it has always defended the values of a healthy lifestyle and the unity of a large global sporting family. I hope this period will pass quickly.

Russia is calm in the face of such temporary phenomena. We are a self-sufficient country, we have enormous potential, the number of Olympic champions is simply enormous. The wealth is our people. We react calmly to the statements of individuals, for us the main thing is the phenomenon itself – skating. It does not depend on the decision-making context of individuals,” reports the correspondent, according to Matytsin’s words.
