Zagitova: “I will train myself at my figure skating school”

Olympic champion Alina Zagitova told that her figure skating school in Kazan would be unique and that she herself would work there as a coach.

In November, First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov said that the construction of the Zagitova School in Kazan is planned to begin and be completed in 2024.

— As for my school, a colossal amount of work has already been accomplished, incomparable to anything else. I joke that I have already become an architect, a designer. I haven’t become a coach yet, but I’m in an active phase. We are also now actively looking for professionals and trainers for the school. This school will be unique in that it will offer many things that are not found in other schools. I can’t reveal the secrets yet, but I think the kids will be happy. The main thing is that I can popularize figure skating, pass on my skills and everything that I have trained over many years of my career to children who need it.

– Certainly! This project for me is not just about transferring my name there, I will delve deeper into all the processes. It’s a large-scale work of my life, I’m very interested. Zagitova won gold at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang. The 21-year-old figure skater also achieved victories at the World Championships and European Championships. In 2019, she put her career on hold.
