Double Olympic medalist Irina Slutskaya spoke about the importance of the artistic component in figure skating.

— I do not agree that show jumping has become more valued than the artistic component. Today’s skaters are very artistic and mature beyond their years. They skate beautifully and jump very well. There was probably a time when the emphasis was on jumping and they started jumping more – but now, even with great technique, you won’t win without a second score. And despite the fact that each skater has their own skating style and priorities, many still show an incredible second score, ”said Slutskaya at the Championship.

The Russian Figure Skating Championship will be held from December 20 to 25 in Chelyabinsk.
