Couple dance coach Ekaterina Mironova And Evgenia Ustenko Elena Sokolova explained to the reasons for changing the music for the figure skaters’ rhythm dance.
This season, the Mironova/Ustenko duo skates their free program to the soundtrack of Shape Of Water by Alexandre Desplat for the film The Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro.
— Why did you decide to change the rhythm dance music?
— The decision has been in preparation since September, following the national team’s skate tests. When we tested the program, we realized that we and the judges would like to hear music in the program that was more recognizable to the audience. They didn’t dare for a long time, but they still took the risk of changing now that there was a little more time between departures. We chose two musical compositions by Sandra to replace. The singer is better known to Russian listeners and, in my opinion, her songs are more suitable for the style of Katya and Zhenya.
— Has the program changed much?
— The program changed in the sequence of elements, mainly in transitions (connection steps) and dance movements. The technical elements themselves remain the same,” Sokolova told .
Mironova and Ustenko are bronze medalists at the Russian Grand Prix.
