A Russian-born figure skater, Malinin was the first in history to cleanly execute all six quadruple jumps in a competition.

American figure skater Ilya Malinin the first in history to perform all six types of quadruple jumps in official competitions.

On Saturday, Malinin, 19, won the ISU Grand Prix final in Beijing, scoring 314.66 points for two programs.

In the short program, Malinin was the first in history to cleanly execute an axel of 4.5 turns; the judges counted this element; during the free skate, he perfectly executed a quadruple toe loop. He has also already performed different types of quads during competitions.

Malinin was born in the United States to the family of Russian figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov. They performed at union and Russian tournaments, and then represented Uzbekistan.
