Synchronized swimmer Kreopalova on the new rules: “Before we did what others couldn’t do, now it costs nothing”

The Russian team’s synchronized swimmer Varvara Kreopalova told that the team can perform as many elements as they want at the highest level under the new rules, but they want to preserve the uniqueness of the programs.

World Aquatics carried out a reform of the rules of synchronized swimming, which affected both the content of the programs and the scoring system.

— Have you watched the World Cup? How was it? Breaking the trend according to estimates?

— The judging is completely different, but depending on the programs, they are simply all the same. Why were we constantly copied before? We found something that others couldn’t do. But if we imagine something like that now, it won’t cost anything, according to estimates. Nowadays, what everyone can do is expensive. And this “what everyone can do” must be put on the program 300 times, 300 screws at 360 degrees. It’s ridiculous.

— Can we make 300 360 degree screws better than anyone else?

– Yes. But we want to make the program as complex as possible and at the same time unique,” Kreopalova told .

Kreopalova, as a member of the Russian national team, is preparing to participate in the Federation Cup, which will begin on December 10 in Kazan.
