Russian figure skater Nikita Volodin, who competes in pairs skating for the German national team, told that his success in his first season with partner Minerva Haze was facilitated by their extensive experience and the emphasis on technique in its programs.
Volodin is originally from Saint Petersburg. Initially he played for Russia and in the 2019/20 season, together with Taisiya Sobinina, he took 11th place in the national championship. In May this year, Volodin went under the German flag and joined forces with Hase. This weekend they won the Grand Prix Final.
— We placed emphasis on the technical component of the programs, especially before the Lombardia Trophy. Initially, the goal was to acquire the technical minimum for the European and World Championships, as well as a set of competitive experiences for a decent performance at the Grand Prix stage (at that time we had only received only one step).
Initially, we did a very good job of putting all the matched elements together, but, of course, it was not clear how the judges would evaluate us, if we were going in the right direction. From the first departures in Bergamo, we realized that we were doing everything correctly.
I would still like to add that we are not new to pair skating: Minerva and I have extensive experience in participating in competitions of different levels. This gave us some confidence in our ability to achieve a decent result,” Volodin told the correspondent.
