“You can say that I am learning again and now the whole country will see my first steps.” Kostomarov led training session on ice

Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov showed how he skated on the ice for the first time after undergoing surgery.

Since January, Kostomarov has suffered several amputations after being hospitalized. At the beginning of July, the 46-year-old skater announced his release from hospital. In August, Kostomarov first appeared on ice in front of the public after illness and surgery, which happened during Averbukh’s show at the Iceberg Arena. The skater, after skating with his wife Oksana Domnina, went out onto the ice in sneakers and hugged her. At the end of November, the skater told that he might soon go on a tour with his wife Oksana Domnina.

— As promised, I went out on the ice! I share with you a short extract from the training. Only my parents saw my first steps on the ice when I was a child. You can say that I am learning again and now the whole country will see my first steps. Everything was carefully documented by the film team who accompanies Oksana and me on a daily basis. There will be a big film,” Kostomarov wrote on the Telegram channel.

Kostomarov, partnered with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, and also won the World Championships twice and the European Championships three times.
