Athletistic/OI-2022. Former world boxing champion and State Duma deputy Nikolai Valuev expressed his reaction to the message that the IOC made a mistake in counting Russian athletes qualified for the Olympic Games.

“What do you think could change in such a short time? Do you exclude that this number could even be reduced to zero, that is, maybe no one will go there, even those who are already qualified?

“I am often asked the same question in different forms. If we consider the dynamics of all the statements of Thomas Bach and his supporters, it has long been clear that their final desire is the complete refusal of Russians to participate in the Games Olympics.” All other options are just a safety net in case circumstances change. This is all nonsense. No one is expecting us there. I remind you that all restrictions remain in force and are not feasible from the start, the time of qualification is “It is inexorably exhausted or has already passed. That’s all. It’s time to take off the rose-colored glasses” , Valuev emphasized.

Last week, the IOC announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus qualified in their disciplines for the Paris Olympics will be allowed to participate in Olympic competitions as neutral athletes.
