Professional sailing competitions will be held for the first time in Sochi in a new format, according to a press release from the All-Russian Sailing Federation.
The event will take place from December 16 to 20 in the waters of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Southern Sports”.
Participants in the competition will be Olympic team athletes, performing primarily in singles and doubles classes. The races will take place over three days on MX‑700 team yachts in crews of 4 to 5 people.
The MX-700 yacht, designed and assembled in St. Petersburg, is now the most popular class, but is not on the Olympic program.
