Russian swimmer Andrei Minakov spoke about the difference in mentality between Russians and Americans.
Minakov has been studying at Stanford University since 2020 and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
— You’ve been studying at Stanford for a few years now. Are there really the differences in mentality between Americans and Russians that we talk about so often?
— A classic question about my life in America (laughs). Of course there is this difference. This manifests itself, first of all, in the attitude towards people and communication. The hypocrisy of everyone here is off the charts. In Russia, people are more lively. They can openly say what they really think. They are more sincere.
In America it is very difficult in this regard. There, people can say how important something is to them, how much they worry, but in reality they don’t care at all,” Minakov told the Championship.
At the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships, which took place in St. Petersburg in November, Minakov won three individual medals: silver in the 100-meter butterfly, bronze in the 50-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle.
